Paris, France:The France-based human rights organization, Justicemakers Bangladesh in France (JMBF), has expressed deep outrage and concern over the incident of the destruction of the Akhra of Baul Nishan Ali in Mirpur, Kushtia, on the night of June 7, 2024. The human rights organization has called for the immediate identification and exemplary punishment of the perpetrators.
According to news reports published in various Bangladeshi newspapers, on the night of Friday, June 7, miscreants destroyed the Akhra of Baul Nishan Ali, located on the banks of the Ganges-Kopotaksha river in Ahmadpur village of Poradah Union, Mirpur upazila, Kushtia. The Akhra, which was built on government canal land, was destroyed by the miscreants at some point during the night. Due to its remote location, no one witnessed when the Akhra was vandalized. Bauls would hold musical gatherings there in the evenings. The Akhra was made with a jute stick fence around and a tin roof over it on the Ganges-Kopotaksha (GK) project's canal land.
"The incident of vandalism of the Baul Akhra in Kushtia is not an isolated event but rather a part of a planned effort to hinder the free practice of culture," said Advocate Shahanur Islam Saikot, the Founder President, JusticeMakers Bangladesh in France (JMBF).
Furthermore, JMBF has called for the necessary measures to ensure that the affected Baul Nishan Ali is rehabilitated and that all members of the Baul community in the country can carry out their cultural activities without hindrance.

প্যারিস, ফ্রান্সঃ গত ৭ জুন ২০২৪ শুক্রবার দিবাগত রাতে কুষ্টিয়ার মিরপুরে নিশান আলী বাউলের আখড়া ভেঙে দেয়ার ঘটনায় ফ্রান্স ভিত্তিক মানবাধিকার প্রতিষ্ঠান জাস্টিসমেকার্স বাংলাদেশ ইন ফ্রানস (জেএমবিএফ) তীব্র ক্ষোভ ও উদ্বেগ জানিয়েছে।মানবাধিকার প্রতিষ্ঠানটি অবিলম্বে অভিযুক্তদের চিহ্নিতপূর্বক বিচারে দৃষ্ঠান্তমূলক শাস্তি প্রদানের আহবান জানিয়েছে।
বাংলাদেশের বিভিন্ন পত্রিকায় প্রকাশিত সাংবাদ থেকে জানা যায় যে, গত ৭ জুন শুক্রবার রাতে কুষ্টিয়ার মিরপুর উপজেলার পোড়াদহ ইউনিয়নের আহমদপুর গ্রামে গঙ্গা-কপোতাক্ষ নদের পাড়ে অবস্থিত বাউল নিশান আলীর আখড়া দূর্বৃত্তরা ভেঙে ফেলে। শুক্রবার রাতের কোনও একসময় আখড়াটি ভেঙে মাটিতে মিশিয়ে দেয় দুর্বৃত্তরা। সরকারি খালের ওপর এটি গড়ে তোলা হয়েছিল। আখড়াটি গ্রাম থেকে অনেক দূরে হওয়ায় কখন ভাঙা হয়েছে, তা কেউ দেখেননি। ওখানে সন্ধ্যার পর গানের আসর বসাতেন বাউলরা। সরকারি জায়গা গঙ্গা-কপোতাক্ষ (জিকে) প্রকল্পের ক্যানালের ওপর চার পাশে পাটখড়ির বেড়া এবং ওপরে টিন দিয়ে আখড়াটি তৈরি করা হয়। সাধুরা রাতে আসর বসাতেন।
